Screening for Torticollis in your Baby
Does your baby…..
• Tilt their head one way more than the other?
• Look toward the same side all the time?
• Have difficulty latching to one side when feeding?
• Have a flattened head?
• Spend minimal time on their tummy?
If you answered yes to some of the questions above, then your child may have torticollis and/or plagiocephaly. Early intervention is key to prevent worsening of the condition and provide the optimal outcome.
WHAT PHYSIO CAN DO FOR YOUR CHILD…
➢ Provide education and reassurance to the parents
➢ Correct the head tilt and rotational preference
➢ Prevent Plagiocephaly/Brachycephaly or help treat it
➢ Refer to an Orthotist and other health care professionals if necessary to treat skull deformities
➢ Monitor and treat for developmental/gross motor delays
