Tanya Barrett Biography
Tanya Barrett is a registered Physiotherapist and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Tanya graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto after pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at York University.
Tanya has over 14 years of varied clinical experiences including complex Orthopaedics, Neurorehabilitation, and Pediatric rehabilitation. Her first few years were focused on Orthopaedics, and soon after began to focus on Neurorehabilitation, which ultimately became her passion. In 2008-2009 she was a Clinical Instructor at the University of Western Ontario School of Physical Therapy. For the past 14 years Tanya has enjoyed assessing and treating children and adults with varying conditions and disabilities including, acute neurological disorders, cerebral palsy, traumatic orthopaedic injuries, genetic disorders, and other orthopedic/soft tissue injuries.
Most recently in 2012, Tanya was hired as the clinical program leader for the Neurodevelopmental Paediatric Physiotherapy Department in the start up phase of Boomerang Health Powered by SickKids. She was a paramount influence in the creation of the physiotherapy department.
Tanya has recently decided to leave Boomerang Health to pursue her goals of owning and managing her own Paediatric Physiotherapy Clinic.
Tanya’s passion for her career is evident during all of her treatment sessions and finds treating children and adolescents to be incredibly rewarding. She likes to incorporate a fun, playful atmosphere into her rehabilitation sessions.
When not working, Tanya is a very busy mother of 3 children and her family dog, Kerala! She enjoys staying fit by practicing yoga and Pilates, regular visits to the gym, and running after her 3 little ones. Tanya is very excited for this new chapter in her career!
